Statement: Nubian Centre for Peace and Democracy Commemorates World Humanitarian Day – August 19, 2025, .. An Urgent Call for Solidarity with Sudan

On World Humanitarian Day, the Nubian Centre for Peace and Democracy stands in reverence and appreciation for the courageous humanitarian workers who face unimaginable hardships to save lives and support the most vulnerable communities around the world. They are true heroes in times of crisis, tirelessly extending a helping hand-especially in areas of displacement, refuge, and conflict where wars continue to tear apart the social and human fabric.
Today, Sudan is enduring one of its most painful chapters of human suffering, with millions of innocent civilians bearing the brunt of internal conflicts and escalating humanitarian disasters. Many are trapped in displacement and refugee camps, where the need for urgent protection and life-saving assistance grows by the day. Cities such as El Fasher, Delling, Kadugli, and El Obeid, along with countless towns and villages, have become epicenters of human tragedy that demand immediate and comprehensive response.
In El Fasher, the humanitarian crisis is deteriorating catastrophically, with residents facing severe shortages of food and medicine that threaten the lives of thousands. In Delling and Kadugli, communities are struggling under the weight of hunger, with an almost total absence of essential food and medical supplies, leading to an alarming rise in deaths. Meanwhile, Sudan-particularly the Darfur region-is grappling with outbreaks of epidemic diseases, most notably cholera, which has claimed hundreds of lives and deepened the fragility of health conditions amid a near-total collapse of the health system and a shortage of medical personnel. These cities and regions represent a desperate cry for urgent help from the world.
The Nubian Centre for Peace and Democracy affirms that humanitarian work is not merely a duty, but an embodiment of the highest human values. It is a call for both international and local solidarity to promote peace, protect human rights, and deliver life-saving assistance that upholds the dignity of every person affected by war and disaster. We must work together, hand in hand, to ensure that aid reaches all those in need and to restore hope to those who have lost it.
On this occasion, the Centre urgently calls upon the international community, humanitarian organizations, governments, and individuals to intensify their efforts and extend immediate support to Sudan. The suffering of the Sudanese people demands a rapid and effective global response. Let us unite for a safe and peaceful Sudan, where every human being can live with dignity and security.

في اليوم العالمي للعمل الإنساني، يقف المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية إجلالاً وتقديراً للعاملين الإنسانيين الشجعان الذين يواجهون أهوالاً لا توصف لإنقاذ الأرواح ودعم المجتمعات الأكثر ضعفاً وتضرراً حول العالم. إنهم أبطال حقيقيون في زمن الأزمات، يمدون يد العون بلا كلل أو ملل، خصوصاً في مناطق النزوح واللجوء ومناطق الصراع والحروب التي تمزق النسيج الاجتماعي والإنساني
اليوم يعيش السودان فصلاً مؤلماً من فصول المعاناة الإنسانية، حيث يرزح ملايين المدنيين الأبرياء تحت وطأة النزاعات الداخلية والكوارث الإنسانية المتفاقمة. يقيم كثيرون في مخيمات النزوح واللجوء، حيث تتزايد الحاجة إلى الحماية والمساعدات العاجلة يوماً بعد يوم. مدن مثل الفاشر، الدلنج، كادوقلي، الأبيض، والعديد من القرى والمدن الأخرى، باتت مسرحاً لمآسي إنسانية تتطلب استجابة فورية وشاملة
في الفاشر، تتفاقم الأزمة الإنسانية بشكل كارثي، حيث يعاني السكان من نقص حاد في الغذاء والدواء، مما يهدد حياة الآلاف، وفي الدلنج وكادوقلي، يعيش الأهالي تحت وطأة الجوع، مع انعدام شبه كامل للمواد الغذائية الأساسية والأدوية، مما أدى إلى ارتفاع مقلق في أعداد الوفيات. كما يشهد السودان وخاصة إقليم دارفور تفشي الأمراض الوبائية وعلى رأسها الكوليرا، التي أودت بحياة المئات وفاقمت من هشاشة الأوضاع الصحية، في ظل انهيار شبه كامل للنظام الصحي ونقص الكوادر الطبية. هذه المدن والمناطق تمثل صرخة استغاثة عاجلة للعالم أجمع
يؤكد المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية على أن العمل الإنساني ليس مجرد واجب، بل هو تجسيد لأسمى قيم الإنسانية. إنه دعوة للتضامن الدولي والمحلي لتعزيز السلام، وحماية حقوق الإنسان، وتوفير المساعدات المنقذة للحياة بما يصون الكرامة الإنسانية لكل متضرر من الحروب والكوارث
وبهذه المناسبة، يدعو المركز المجتمع الدولي، المنظمات الإنسانية، الحكومات، والأفراد إلى تكثيف الجهود وتقديم الدعم العاجل للسودان. إن معاناة الشعب السوداني تتطلب استجابة عالمية سريعة وفعالة. لنعمل معاً يداً بيد، لضمان وصول المساعدات إلى كل محتاج، ولإعادة الأمل إلى قلوب من فقدوه، ومن أجل سودان آمن يعمه السلام، يعيش فيه كل إنسان بكرامة وأمان
