Within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy and the Sudanese Doctors for Peace and Development Organization, and in line with the humanitarian principles of solidarity and support for the Sudanese people, especially in light of the negative impacts of the Sudanese war on Sudanese citizens both inside and outside the country, both partners initiated a generous initiative to explore the possibility of Sudanese medical students, who were displaced to Uganda due to the war, to continue their studies in the medical field, which includes (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, medical laboratories, public health, nursing, and psychology).
A joint consultative meeting was held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Office of the Sudanese Doctors Organization in Kampala, to identify the challenges facing these students and preventing them from continuing their education at Ugandan universities. The meeting aimed to find ways for students to continue their studies.
The meeting included the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy, the Sudanese Doctors for Peace and Development Organization, a number of Sudanese students from various Sudanese universities, and online participation by Dr. Mahmoud from the UAE, Dr. Ahmed El Tigani Sid Ahmed from Rome, Ambassador Ali bin Abi Talib Al-Jundi from Geneva, and Professor Faith from Kampala.
The meeting listened to the problems and challenges faced by Sudanese medical students in Uganda, which hinder the continuation of the educational process. Students detailed all the challenges that prevented them from continuing their studies, especially in Sudanese universities that have opened branches in Uganda. In addition, students discussed the scholarship provided by IGAD for Sudanese students in Uganda, which a number of students applied for but have not yet received any new details about.
The meeting concluded with the following:
– Forming a committee to communicate with Ugandan universities to learn about the required procedures for Sudanese medical students to continue their studies at Ugandan universities.
– Forming a committee of students to register all Sudanese medical students in Uganda.
– Communicating with IGAD to learn about the latest details regarding the scholarship for Sudanese students in Uganda.
– Holding a meeting with Sudanese doctors’ unions in Australia, the United States, Britain, Ireland, the Gulf states, and other countries to discuss finding urgent and sustainable solutions to the problem of Sudanese medical students continuing their studies.
– Students agreed to design an electronic form to register all Sudanese students enrolled in Sudanese medical schools residing in Uganda.
– The sponsors of the initiative, represented by the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy and the Sudanese Doctors for Peace and Development Organization, as well as the students, will publish the form link on the website of the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy to expedite the registration process.
We call on students to quickly fill out the registration form and distribute it to their colleagues in Uganda to contribute to the design of an urgent project to support Sudanese students enrolled in Sudanese medical schools residing in Uganda to continue their education.
اجتماع تشاورى مهم للطلاب/ات السودانيين/ات من كليات الطب السودانية، يبحث إمكانية مواصلة الطلاب للدراسة
في إطار تنفيذ أهداف مذكرة التفاهم الموقعة بين المركز النوبي للسلام والديموقراطية ومنظمة أطباء السودان للسلام والتنمية، واستهداءاً بمبادئ الإنسانية في التضامن والوقوف مع الشعب السوداني ودعمه ومساعدته في ظل تداعيات الحرب السودانية التي ألقت بظلالها السالبة على مجمل أوضاع السودانيين/ات داخل وخارج البلاد، وبمبادرة كريمة من طرفا الشراكة حول امكانية مواصلة الطلاب السودانيين/ات في المجال الطبي، والذين شردتهم الحرب الي دولة اوغندا، للدراسة في المجال الطبي الذي يضم (الطب، طيب الأسنان، الصيدلة، المختبرات الطبية، الصحة العامة، التمريض، وعلم النفس).
تم عقد اجتماع تشاوري مشترك يوم امس الاثنين ٢٥ نوفمبر ٢٠٢٤ بمقر منظمة أطباء السودان بكمبالا، للوقوف على التحديات التي تواجه هؤلاء الطلاب/آت وتمنعهم من مواصلات تعليمهم في الجامعات الأوغندية، وعقد الاجتماع لبحث إمكانيات مواصلة الطلاب للدراسة، وضم الاجتماع كل من المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية، ومنظمة أطباء السودان للسلام والتنمية، وحضره عدد من الطالبات والطلاب السودانيين من مختلف الجامعات السودانية، وشارك الاجتماع عبر الانترنت كل من الدكتور محمود من الامارات، والدكتور احمد التجاني سيد احمد من روما، وسعادة السفير علي بن ابي طالب الجندي من جنيف، والاستاذة فيث من كمبالا.
استمع الاجتماع الى المشاكل والتحديات التي تواجه طلاب كليات الطب السودانيين في اوغندا وتحول دون مواصلة العملية التعليمية، حيث سرد الطلاب بالتفاصيل كافة التحديات التي منعتهم من مواصلة الدراسة، لا سيما في الجامعات والكليات السودانية التي فتحت لها فروع في اوغندا، بالإضافة الى ذلك تحدث الطلاب عن المنحة المقدمة من (الايغاد) للطلاب السودانيين في اوغندا، والتي قدم لها عدد من الطلاب الا انهم حتى الان لم يتلقوا أي تفاصيل جديدة بشأنها.
وخرج الاجتماع بالآتي:
– تكوين لجنة للتواصل مع الجامعات الأوغندية لمعرفة الاجراءات المطلوبة حول كيفية مواصلة طلاب كليات الطب السودانية للدراسة في الجامعات الأوغندية.
– تكوين لجنة من الطلاب لحصر جميع طلاب كليات الطب السودانيين المتواجدين بأوغندا.
– التواصل مع الايغاد لمعرفة التفاصيل المستجدة بشأن منحة الطلاب السودانيين بأوغندا.
– عقد اجتماع مع اتحادات الأطباء السودانيين في كل من استراليا، الولايات المتحدة الامريكية، بريطانيا وايرلندا، دول الخليج، ودول اخري، للتباحث حول إيجاد حلول عاجلة ومستدامة لمشكلة استمرار طلاب كليات الطب السودانية لاستكمال الدراسة.
– واتفق الطلاب على تصميم استمارة الكترونية لحصر جميع الطلاب السودانيين المنتسبون الى كليات الطب السودانية، المتواجدين في دولة اوغندا، وسوف يقوم رعاة المبادرة بكل من المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية ومنظمة أطباء السودان للسلام والتنمية والطلاب بنشر رابط الاستمارة بموقع المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية للإسراع فى عملية الحصر.
وندعو الطلاب والطالبات للإسراع بملء استمارة الحصر وتوزيعها على زملاءهن وزملائهم بيوغندا للمساهمة في تصميم المشروع العاجل لدعم طلاب/ات الطب السودانيين/آت المتواجدات/ين بدولة يوغندا بشرق أفريقيا لمواصلة واستكمال التعليم.
