To our dear Ugandan brothers and sisters,
and to all Christians around the world,
We extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the glorious Easter holiday, a holiday that embodies the essence of redemption, sacrifice, and resurrection — from pain to hope, from darkness to light.
On this sacred occasion, we join you in reflecting on the values that Easter represents: forgiveness, love, and humility. These are the values we hope will prevail among our peoples, serving as a guiding light for humanity on its challenging path.
On this occasion, we also recall the commandments of honor that inspire us to live in peace with ourselves and with others, rearranging our priorities in a troubled world. These are:
- Respond with care and strength to those who hurt you (not to take revenge, but to change).
- Do not hurt or argue with kind people (kindness can only be met with gentleness).
- Do not focus solely on your own life, but care for others with your concern (minimize your tears over yourself and spread joy through selflessness, saving your tears for the misfortunes of others).
- Stay silent except for the truth (only truth frees the soul).
- Do not make promises (let your actions speak quietly).
- Do not let your mind become a slave to emotion (let your emotions serve your mind, just as strong fire serves a hearth, and do not become angry).
- Give what you need and leave what you do not need (offer your possessions as if they are someone else’s joy and your burden).
- Surrender your soul in love to the strength of God’s spirit (for in surrender, there is wisdom and peace).
- Tomorrow belongs to God – yesterday is gone – remember you are the child of today, so live it truthfully.
- Do not let anyone confine you with fear (for fear is an evil that blinds the heart).
- Do not imprison yourself with pride (for pride blocks the light).
- Always trust in God (for in His trust alone, there is rest and meaning).
We pray that this holiday be a season of peace, healing, and renewal, and that it inspires us all on the path of justice, mercy, and hope, so we can build a world that is fairer and safer for all.
A joyous Easter, and may you be well throughout the year.
With sincere love and appreciation
