In an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and initiative, Saturday, February 8, 2025, marked the opening of the Capacity-Building Workshop organized by the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy (NCPD), in partnership with Sudanese Development Organization (NIDAA). The workshop, held at NIDAA’s headquarters, is part of ongoing efforts to promote the values of peace and democracy in Sudan. It aims to enhance the capabilities of active young men and women in Sudan’s civil space, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the country’s journey toward peace and democracy.
This workshop was organized in response to a request from the youth initiative “Sports as a Bridge for Peace,” in addition to various other youth groups, including active members of civil society such as resistance committees and emergency committees. Special attention was given to ensuring the broad participation of young women, with their representation exceeding 40% of the attendees—an affirmation of the critical role women play in peacebuilding and democratic processes.
The workshop consists of six training sessions running from Saturday, February 8, to Thursday, February 13, focusing on key themes essential for fostering civic awareness and empowering youth to play a more active role in their communities. These themes include:
- The concept of civic education.
- Transitional justice and dealing with the past.
- Democracy and good governance.
- Sudanese civil society: its roles and challenges.
- Secularism and the relationship between religion, the state, and society.
- Tolerance and the dilemmas of understanding.
- Barriers to social cohesion (tribalism, racism, historical grievances).
- The struggle for justice and recognition.
- Dialogue, communication, and ethics of discussion.
- Training and facilitation skills.
A distinguished group of experts and specialists in peace, democracy, and development are leading this workshop, including Mr. Hatem Hamed Younis, Dr. Khalid Othman Taha, and coordinator Dr. Mohammed Saleh Mohammed Yass. Over the six-day period, participants will engage in a combination of theoretical lectures, interactive discussions, and practical exercises to maximize their learning experience. The workshop will conclude on Thursday, February 13, 2025, with evaluative assessments designed to measure participants’ progress. Based on these evaluations, participants will receive certificates of completion, acknowledging their successful participation in the program.
This workshop is part of broader efforts to promote civic awareness, strengthen democratic principles, exchange expertise, and connect young men and women to play a future role in developing and modernizing the civic space. Given Sudan’s political, social, and developmental challenges, such initiatives contribute to preparing a conscious generation capable of supporting democratic transition and working towards sustainable peace, development, and good governance.

تمكين الشباب .. خطوة أساسية نحو السلام وبناء مستقبل ديمقراطي ومستدام.
في أجواء مفعمة بالحماس وروح المبادرة، شهد اليوم السبت 8 فبراير 2025 افتتاح ورشة بناء القدرات التي ينظمها المركز النوبي للسلام والديمقراطية، بالشراكة مع منظمة نداء التنمية السودانية، وذلك بمقر منظمة نداء، وتأتي هذه الورشة ضمن الجهود المستمرة لتعزيز قيم السلام والديمقراطية في السودان، وتهدف إلى تعزيز قدرات الشباب والشابات الفاعلين في الفضاء المدني السوداني، وتزويدهم بالمعارف والمهارات اللازمة للمساهمة في دعم مسيرة السلام والديمقراطية في البلاد.
تأتي هذه الورشة استجابة لطلب قدمه شباب مبادرة الرياضة جسر السلام، بالإضافة إلى مجموعات شبابية واسعة تضم الشابات والشباب الفاعليين في المجتمع المدني، بما في ذلك لجان المقاومة ولجان الطوارئ، وقد حرصنا على ضمان مشاركة واسعة للشابات، حيث بلغت نسبة تمثيلهن في الورشة أكثر من 40%، وذلك تأكيداً على أهمية دور المرأة في عمليات بناء السلام والديمقراطية.
تتضمن الورشة (ست) جلسات تدريبية، تمتد من السبت 8 فبراير وحتى الخميس 13 فبراير، وتركز على عدد من المحاور الحيوية التي تعزز الوعي المدني وتمكين الشباب من لعب دور أكثر فاعلية في مجتمعاتهم، وتشمل هذه المحاور:
1. مفهوم التثقيف المدني.
2. العدالة الانتقالية والتعامل مع الماضي.
3. الديمقراطية والحكم الرشيد.
4. المجتمع المدني السوداني: أدواره وتحدياته.
5. العلمانية وعلاقة الدين بالدولة والمجتمع.
6. التسامح ومعضلات التفاهم.
7. معوقات التماسك الاجتماعي (العصبية، العنصرية، المظالم التاريخية).
8. النضال من أجل العدالة والاعتراف.
9. الحوار والتواصل وأخلاقيات النقاش.
10. مهارات التدريب والتيسير.
ويتولى تقديم هذه الورشة نخبة من الخبراء والمتخصصين في مجالات السلام والديمقراطية والتنمية، وهم، الأستاذ والخبير/ حاتم حامد يونس، الدكتور خالد عثمان طه وبتنسيق الدكتور محمد صالح محمد يس، وسيتم خلال الأيام (الستة) تقديم مزيج من المحاضرات النظرية، والنقاشات التفاعلية، والتدريبات العملية، لضمان تحقيق أقصى استفادة للمشاركين، وتُختتم الورشة يوم الخميس 13 فبراير 2025، حيث سيخضع المشاركون لاختبارات تقييمية، تهدف إلى قياس مدى استفادتهم من البرنامج التدريبي، وبناءً على نتائج هذه الاختبارات، سيتم منح المشاركين شهادات تقديرية توثّق اجتيازهم للورشة بنجاح.
وتأتي هذه الورشة في إطار الجهود المستمرة لتعزيز الوعي المدني وترسيخ مبادئ الديمقراطية والاستفادة من الخبرات وتشبيك الشابات والشباب للعب دور مستقبلي في تطوير وتحديث الفضاء المدني، والسعي إلى تمكينهم من لعب دور ريادي في بناء مجتمع أكثر استقراراً وعدالة، وفي ظل التحديات التي تواجه السودان على المستويات السياسية والاجتماعية والتنموية، تساهم مثل هذه المبادرات في إعداد جيل واعي، وقادر على دعم التحول الديمقراطي والمساهمة في تحقيق سلام وتنمية مستدامة وحكم رشيد.
