His Excellency Ambassador John Anton Johnson, Norwegian Ambassador to Sudan, met with a number of Sudanese political and civil groups in Entebbe, Uganda. On December 5, His Excellency Ambassador John Anton Johnson held large meetings in Entebbe, which included representatives of Sudanese civil society organizations, women and youth leaders, Sudanese resistance committees, and political parties.
The meetings discussed the status of the war in Sudan and the catastrophic humanitarian situation suffered by millions of Sudanese due to the repercussions of the war that has been ongoing since April 5, 2023.
His Excellency the Ambassador listened to the participants’ views on the humanitarian situation in Sudan, the challenges facing civilians, and ways to provide the necessary humanitarian support.
During the meetings, participants discussed the depth of the humanitarian crisis suffered by the Sudanese people, especially women and children who bear the brunt of the war, and pointed to the high rates of hunger, malnutrition, displacement and gender-based violence, and called for the need to provide special protection for women and children, and psychological and social support for them.
Participants praised the role of the Norwegian government in the peace agreements signed in Sudan, and supporting confidence-building between communities.
Participants called on the international community to redouble its efforts to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Sudan, with a focus on the special needs of women and children, and the need to open safe humanitarian corridors to deliver aid to besieged areas.
Participants in the meetings called for an immediate ceasefire, protection of civilians, and facilitation of humanitarian access to all those in need. They also called on the international community to pressure the warring parties to come to the negotiating table and reach a political solution to the Sudanese crisis, and emphasized the importance of holding perpetrators of crimes against humanity accountable.
During the meetings, the Norwegian Ambassador emphasized his country’s support for the Sudanese people in these difficult circumstances, stressed the importance of a political solution to the Sudanese crisis, and called on all parties to stop violence and dialogue in order to achieve peace and stability in Sudan.
The Ambassador praised the great solidarity shown by Sudanese people at home and abroad, stressing that this solidarity is the key to achieving the desired change in Sudan, and emphasized the importance of Sudanese national unity and solidarity to face the challenges facing their country, reiterating the Norwegian government’s commitment to support Sudan’s development aspirations and build a stable future.

إلتقى سعادة السفير جون أنطون جونسون، السفير النرويجي لدى السودان عدد من المجموعات السياسية والمدنية السودانية في عنتيبي بأوغندا، وعقد سعادة السفير جون أنطون جونسون، في 5 ديسمبر الجاري، إجتماعات واسعة في عنتيبي، ضم ممثلي منظمات المجتمع المدني السودانية، والقيادات النسوية والشبابية ولجان المقاومة السودانية، والاحزاب السياسية.
وناقش الاجتماعات أوضاع الحرب في السودان، والإنسانية الكارثية التى يعاني منها ملايين السودانيين بسبب تداعيات الحرب المستمرة منذ ٥ أبريل ٢٠٢٣م.
واستمع سعادة السفير إلى آراء المشاركين حول الوضع الإنساني في السودان، والتحديات التي تواجه المدنيين، وسبل تقديم الدعم الإنساني اللازم.
وتناول المشاركون خلال الاجتماعات عمق الأزمة الإنسانية التي يعاني منها الشعب السوداني، ولا سيما النساء والأطفال الذين يتحملون العبء الأكبر للحرب، وأشاروا إلى ارتفاع معدلات الجوع وسوء التغذية والتشرد والعنف القائم على النوع الاجتماعي، وطالبوا بضرورة توفير حماية خاصة للنساء والأطفال، وتقديم الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي لهم.
وإشاد المشاركون بدور الحكومة النرويجية في اتفاقيات السلام الموقعة في السودان، ودعم بناء الثقة بين المجتمعات،
ودعا المشاركون المجتمع الدولي إلى مضاعفة جهوده لتقديم المساعدات الإنسانية العاجلة للسودان، مع التركيز على الاحتياجات الخاصة للنساء والأطفال، وضرورة فتح ممرات إنسانية آمنة لإيصال المساعدات إلى المناطق المحاصرة.
وطالب المشاركون في الاجتماعات بوقف فوري لإطلاق النار، وتوفير الحماية للمدنيين، وتسهيل وصول المساعدات الإنسانية إلى جميع المحتاجين، كما دعوا المجتمع الدولي إلى الضغط على الأطراف المتحاربة للجلوس إلى طاولة المفاوضات والتوصل إلى حل سياسي للأزمة السودانية، وشددوا على أهمية محاسبة مرتكبي الجرائم ضد الإنسانية.
وأكد السفير النرويجي خلال الاجتماعات على دعم بلاده للشعب السوداني في هذه الظروف الصعبة، وشدد على أهمية الحل السياسي للأزمة السودانية، ودعا جميع الأطراف إلى وقف العنف والحوار من أجل تحقيق السلام والاستقرار في السودان.
وأشاد سعادة السفير بالتضامن الكبير الذي أبداه السودانيون في الداخل والخارج، مؤكداً أن هذا التضامن هو مفتاح تحقيق التغيير المنشود في السودان، وأكد على أهمية الوحدة الوطنية السودانية، والتكاتف لمواجهة التحديات التي تواجه بلدهم، مجددًا التزام الحكومة النرويجية بدعم تطلعات السودان التنموية وبناء مستقبل مستقر.
