In a step to support the Sudanese people, a meeting was held on December 2-3 in Entebbe, Uganda, bringing together representatives from Sudanese civil society organizations, women’s groups, political and youth leaders, and Canadian officials, Mr. Pierric Le Dorze and Mr. Barry Parkernson from the Canadian Embassy in Sudan, currently operating from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to discuss the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
These meetings led to the establishment of a dynamic and inclusive platform for dialogue, with discussions focusing on the multifaceted challenges faced by the Sudanese people, especially displaced and refugees, emphasizing the need for cooperative and sustainable solutions.
These meetings come amid the difficult circumstances faced by Sudan, highlighting the role of Sudanese groups in Kampala as a voice representing and advocating for the affected.
The meetings were characterized by broad participation from various Sudanese groups in Kampala, both in person and online, underscoring the significant interest in the Sudanese cause and international solidarity in supporting it.
During these meetings, Mr. Pierric Le Dorze and Mr. Barry Parkernson listened attentively to the clear and frank discussions of the participants regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation facing the Sudanese people due to the ongoing war since April 15, 2023, particularly the plight of Sudanese refugees and the challenges hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the conflict.
The participants also identified potential areas where the Canadian government could play a significant role, particularly in the process of stopping the war and addressing the humanitarian crisis.
The discussions were fruitful and productive, addressing the urgent challenges facing the Sudanese people, especially Sudanese refugees in the diaspora.
The meetings emphasized the urgent need to address these issues through Canada’s influence within the international community.
The participants expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Pierric Le Dorze and Mr. Barry Parkernson for providing the opportunity to hold these meetings, and to the Canadian government for its continued support and assistance to the Sudanese people, and for standing by the Sudanese people at all times.
The meetings emphasized the important and positive role that various Sudanese groups can play in cooperation with regional and international humanitarian organizations to alleviate the suffering of Sudanese people who are in dire need of food and medicine.
The participants called on the Canadian government to exert more efforts to address the Sudanese crisis, increase its support for the Sudanese people who are suffering from the worst catastrophic crisis in Sudan’s history, continue to provide more support and assistance to Sudanese, and work to stop the war in Sudan and achieve peace and address the humanitarian crisis.
Mr. Pierric Le Dorze and Mr. Barry Parkernson expressed their deep appreciation to Sudanese organizations in Kampala for attending the meetings, and commended their growing role and ongoing efforts to support the Sudanese people.
Mr. Pierric Le Dorze and Mr. Barry Parkernson affirmed the Canadian government’s solidarity and support for the Sudanese people during these difficult and complex circumstances caused by the war, in addition to the Canadian government’s continued provision of more support and assistance to Sudanese, and its strong commitment to working towards stopping the war in Sudan, addressing the humanitarian crisis, and supporting initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of Sudanese communities, empowering women and youth, and promoting peace and stability in the region.
These meetings were not merely discussions but a call to action, emphasizing the importance of partnerships between local organizations and the international community.
We are optimistic that this dialogue will pave the way for effective interventions aimed at improving the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
أزمة السودان: مسؤولون كنديون يبحثون عن حلول مع المجتمع المدني السوداني.
في خطوة لدعم الشعب السوداني، انعقد خلال يومي 2-3 ديسمبر الجاري، في عنتيبي بأوغندا، اجتماع ضم ممثلي من منظمات المجتمع المدني السوداني، والمجموعات النسوية، والسياسية والقيادات الشبابية، مع مسؤولين كنديين، السيد بيريك لو دورزي والسيد باري باركنسون من السفارة الكندية في السودان، التي تعمل حاليًا من العاصمة الإثيوبية أديس أبابا، لمناقشة الأزمة الإنسانية المتصاعدة في السودان.
وأدت هذه اللقاءات إلى إنشاء منصة ديناميكية وشاملة للحوار، وركزت المناقشات على التحديات المتعددة الأوجه التي يواجهها الشعب السوداني واللاجئون، مؤكدة على الحاجة إلى حلول تعاونية ومستدامة.
وتأتي هذة الاجتماعات في ظل الظروف الصعبة التي يواجهها السودان، مسلطًا الضوء على دور المجموعات السودانية في كمبالا كصوت يمثل المتضررين ويدافع عنهم.
وتميزت الاجتماعات بمشاركة واسعة من المجموعات السودانية المختلفة بكمبالا، سواء بشكل شخصي أو عبر الإنترنت، مما يؤكد الاهتمام الكبير بالقضية السودانية والتضامن الدولي في دعمها.
وخلال هذه الاجتماعات استمع السيدين، السيد بيريك لو دورزي والسيد باري باركنسون باهتمام إلى المناقشات الواضحة والصريحة من المشاركين بشأن الوضع الإنساني الكارثي الذي يواجهه الشعب السوداني بسبب الحرب المستمرة منذ 15 أبريل 2023، وخاصة محنة اللاجئين السودانيين والتحديات التي تعيق توصيل المساعدات الإنسانية للمدنيين المتضررين في مناطق الصراع.
كما حدد المشاركون المجالات المحتملة التي يمكن للحكومة الكندية أن تلعب فيها دورًا مهمًا، خاصة في عملية وقف الحرب ومعالجة الأزمة الإنسانية.
وكانت المناقشات مثمرة ومفيدة حيث تطرقت إلى التحديات الملحة التي يواجهها الشعب السوداني، لا سيما اللاجئين السودانيين في الشتات.
وأكدت الاجتماعات على الحاجة الملحة لمعالجة هذه القضايا من خلال نفوذ كندا داخل المجتمع الدولي.
وعبر المشاركون عن امتنانهم العميق وتقديرهم للسيد بيريك لو دورزي والسيد باري باركنسون لإتاحة الفرصة لعقد هذه الاجتماعات، وللحكومة الكندية على دعمها ومساعدتها المستمرة للشعب السوداني، والوقوف إلى جانب الشعب السوداني في جميع الأوقات.
وأكد الاجتماعات على الدور الهام والإيجابي الذي يمكن أن تلعبه المجموعات السودانية المختلفة بالتعاون مع المنظمات الإنسانية الإقليمية والدولية، لتخفيف معاناة السودانيين الذين هم في حاجه ماسه للغذاء والدواء.
ودعا المشاركون الحكومة الكندية إلى بذل المزيد من الجهود لمعالجة الأزمة السودانية، وزيادة دعمها للشعب السوداني الذي يعاني من أسوأ أزمة كارثية في تاريخ السودان، ومواصلة تقديم المزيد من الدعم والمساعدة للسودانيين، والعمل على وقف الحرب في السودان وتحقيق السلام ومعالجة الأزمة الإنسانية.
وعبر السيد بيريك لو دورزي والسيد باري باركنسون عن تقديرهما العميق لمنظمات للمجموعات السودانية في كمبالا لحضورهم الاجتماعات، وأشادا بدورهما المتنامي وجهودهما المستمرة لدعم الشعب السوداني.
وأكد السيد بيريك لو دورزي والسيد باري باركنسون تضامن الحكومة الكندية ودعمها للشعب السوداني خلال هذه الظروف الصعبة والمعقدة التي سببتها الحرب، بالإضافة إلى استمرار الحكومة الكندية في تقديم المزيد من الدعم والمساعدة للسودانيين، والتزامها القوي بالعمل من أجل وقف الحرب في السودان، ومعالجة الأزمة الإنسانية، ودعم المبادرات الرامية إلى تخفيف معاناة المجتمعات السودانية، وتمكين المرأة والشباب، وتعزيز السلام والاستقرار في المنطقة.
ولم تكون هذه الاجتماعات مجرد مناقشات بل كانت دعوة إلى العمل، مؤكدة على أهمية الشراكات بين المنظمات المحلية والمجتمع الدولي.
