The Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy office in South Darfur State, in cooperation with the Youth Ambitions Initiative, launched an urgent distress call under the slogan “Nyala is calling you” ..
This is to confront the danger of an undeclared famine in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State.

In light of this war that has created a bitter reality through the displacement, migration and great human suffering it has caused for citizens, and where the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy office in Nyala, in cooperation with the Youth Ambitions Initiative, conducted a field tour of a number of neighborhoods and markets in the city to see the humanitarian conditions that citizens are suffering from.
During the field tour, we observed a sharp increase in the prices of basic food items and fuel as follows:

1- Malwa of onions 7,500 thousand pounds
2- A bottle of oil 2,200 thousand pounds
3- A kilo of sugar 4,000 thousand pounds
4- Malwa of marek flour 10,500 thousand pounds
5- Malwa of wheat flour 10,000 thousand pounds
6- Malwa of millet flour 11,000 thousand pounds.
In addition, the price of a gallon of gasoline is 35,000 thousand pounds and more, with a huge increase in transportation prices, as the lowest fare for a passenger reached more than 700 pounds.
In addition, the bank transfer commission discount, “Bankak”, reached .30%.
We note that millet flour is considered one of the most important foodstuffs that citizens depend on mainly, and represents the main meal for the residents of Nyala city, and for the residents of Darfur region in general, and in light of the high price of the malwa, one family needs about
15,000 thousand pounds to get two meals a day, and there are thousands of families who do not get that amount, and are not able to get the cost of one meal a day, let alone two meals.
And thousands of families cannot provide at least half a meal a day, and most of them are poor families who do not extend their hand to others.
The citizens of Nyala city have become cramped and live in a very miserable reality, lacking the most basic necessities of life, where citizens suffer greatly to obtain a living in light of the continuous increase in the prices of basic foodstuffs, and their lack of cash liquidity, and there is a quasi-famine looming over the city of Nyala, and the increasing number of cases of children suffering from malnutrition, and the overcrowding of health centers with citizens suffering from diseases. Therefore, it was necessary for the Nubian Center for Peace and Democracy, and the Youth Ambitions Initiative, to shed light on this suffering and heavy burdens, and work to lift them from the shoulders of innocent citizens, who are not guilty of all this, and in order to avoid the risks and the resulting hunger and death, we launched an “urgent distress call,” to appeal to the international community and humanitarian organizations to save the lives and lives of millions from death due to the famine that has become imminent and threatens the lives of citizens in the city of Nyala.
